Acquire hands-on experience to build your skillset for the growing industry of construction trades.
- Gain practical experience in various facets of the construction trades.
- Develop your skills in all areas of the construction trades, including blueprint reading, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, wiring and more.
- Skills learned can be used to be a construction laborer, construction supervisor/foreman, brick mason and construction carpenter.

Cost
For fall 2025, spring 2026 and summer 2026, building maintenance (BDM) classes have a tuition rate of $215.25 per credit hour for in-district residents, except BDM 208. All other classes in the program have a standard in-district rate of $143.50 per credit hour. Get more information on tuition and fees.

2026 Career Quest Camp
Build & Wire: Summer Trade Skills Camp
June 1-18, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday at 69·çÁ÷-Taylorville
Jump into the world of skilled trades with this hands-on construction and electrical camp. Students gain real experience using professional tools, learning basic wiring and completing woodworking projects, including building their own furniture piece.
- Camp is limited to 12 students - incoming juniors, seniors and recent grads.
- Must wear closed-toed shoes and long pants for safety.
Expansion of high school construction program
High school students will explore construction apprenticeships, while learning through hands-on labs and field trips to work sites. Participating students will receive free tools, work boots and personal protective equipment. They will earn college credit from 69·çÁ÷ as well as certification from the National Center for Construction Education and Research and be trained in OSHA 10 construction safety, CPR, forklift and aerial lift.
